Design M Uten Silo I by Dorothee Maurer-Becker (Cream)

The Uten Silo 1 designed by Dorothee Maurer-Becker, the wife of Ingo Maurer. This is a early edition from the late 1960s, produced by Design M in West-Germany. This is the Uten Silo 1 which is the larger version from the Uten Silo's. It's made from ABS plastic, and the hooks are made of metal. This the white edition which has beautifully discoloured into this off white/cream color. 

Dorothee Maurer-Becker was born in Germany in 1938. She studied languages in Frankfurt and Munich. After spending some time in London and Paris, she moved to California in 1960. She returned to Germany in 1963, together with her husband Ingo Maurer. Three years later they founded Design M, a design and manufacturing company, in Munich.

This Uten Silo is still in good vintage condition for such an early edition, with normal signs of usage. There is a small hairline crack in one of the compartments which can be seen in the pictures.
