
The Story
Artemide Saffo table lamp designed by Angelo Mangiarotti in 1967. It was named after the Greek lyric poet Sappho. The lamp features an aluminium base which supports the completely glass shade. The shade is mouth blown in smoked Murano glass consisted of two colors. The Saffo lamp creates a stunning ethereal light effect.
Angelo Mangiarotti was an Italian architect, sculptor, and designer which really shows in his Saffo lamp design. The remarkable design bares testament to his background as a sculptor and shows his unique approach to combining shapes and materials.
This lamp is an early edition from the 1960s and still in great condition as can be seen in the pictures.
