Artek 109 Coat Rack by Alvar Aalto (Custom Size)

This 109 coat rack is designed by Alvar Aalto in 1936. It's part of a group of designs that were called 'domestic helpers' in the 1930s. These items meant to serve the smaller needs of everyday life. The charming and versatile products had been a highly popular part of the Artek collection for many decades. 
This 109 coat rack is a custom piece as the size is smaller than the normal retail version. This rack is just 54 cm wide where others are 100 cm wide. It's a practical piece for any entrance hall and is structurally based on laminated birch wood loops. These loops were used as a standard component in several other designs, such as the wall shelves and umbrella stand. 

This coat rack is from the 1950s and still in great condition, with normal signs of use as can be seen in the pictures.
